+ Manufacturing Cost Accountant

This position is responsible for performing a range of accounting functions. This generally includes the reduction of financial waste and increasing profits. Duties include determining actual costs of manufacturing or provision of services, scrutinizing associated company expenses, inventory valuations, analyzing profitability and preparing reports.

This position will be a full time regular position, Monday – Friday, with overtime as required. Skills and experience will determine placement in appropriate job grade.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 3 or more years of related experience
  • Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and site ERP system (M1)
  • Must be able to adapt to new and different computer programs and software to enable efficient data gathering and analysis
  • Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & Cost Accounting Standards
  • Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards
  • Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • Ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts and reserves
  • Strong organizational and communicational skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Industry background preferred
  • Self-directed and can work a shift with little direction from supervisor

 


Job Responsibilities:

  • Planning, Studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor.
  • Analyzing data collected and recording results
  • Analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost
  • Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
  • Recording cost information for use in controlling expenditures
  • Analyzing audits of costs and preparing reports
  • Making estimates of new and proposed product costs
  • Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
  • Maintaining Cost Accounting System
  • Assisting in Month end close of the General Ledger
  • Conducts physical inventories and monitors cycle count program
  • Reconciles finished goods inventories
  • Prepare, analyze and report weekly, monthly, quarterly gross margin analysis by department and/or market type
  • Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, analyze inventory evaluation, inventory roll forward
  • Maintain internal control documentation and test internal controls
  • Prepare detailed account analysis and reconcile sales, cost and inventory, liability accounts by customer type and/or division
  • Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research and perform analytical studies in regard to cost analyses and profitability
  • Work in special projects as required
  • Support and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules and others
  • Has positive work attitude, sound reasoning ability, good judgment, and good work ethic
  • Perform other duties as assigned
