+ Tooling Designer

The Tooling Designer is responsible for providing design specifications for the site, including diagnosing and troubleshooting issues with existing tooling, designing for new tooling, and equipment construction using 3D modeling software. This includes taking these activities into build with coordination from tooling fabrication and engineering support.

This position will be full-time regular, Monday – Friday, with overtime as required. This position will report to the Design Team Technical Lead.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, drafting or automation design, or equivalent experience in tooling design, tooling build or a closely related technical field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to apply principles of mechanical and physical relations to processes
  • Knowledge and proficiency with 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX
  • Experience with performing mold flow analysis is a plus
  • Able to read, interpret and create prints, drawings and diagrams
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving

  • Experience with basic various computer software

Job Responsibilities:

Technical Knowledge

  • Complete all mold or tooling design elements from preliminary design through final approval
  • Design injection molding tools and dies according to verbal instructions and engineering drawings
  • Interface with customers and co-workers to ensure molds are designed according to customer specifications while also meeting all applicable ASTM, ASME, UL, etc. design standards
  • Work with engineering to diagnose and correct clearance, interference, or identified design concerns before releasing to build, during qualification, and mold approval stages
  • Prepares the files of data for use by the fabrication/build services
  • Attend design review meetings and documents inputs and outputs as appropriate
  • Read and understand engineering drawings and other instructions
  • Ability to study specifications and confer with shop personnel and supervisors to resolve design problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, and service requirements

Project Management and Planning

  • Organize, Plan and Prioritize position’s goals and initiatives
